This is a .tar.gz file, so you'll need a program like WinAce(http://www.winace.com) to extract the files.

Note: YOU MUST BE RUNNING JAILBREAKED FIRMWARE 1.1.2 with the BSD SUBSYSTEM to RUN THIS JAILBREAK! If you don't have it then upgrade to it. My jailbreak 1.1.2 guide is located here. The BSD Subsystem can be install through Installer. Go to Installer >> System >> and BSD Subsystem.

Why should you use this jailbreak instead of Nate's jailbreak? Okay, this one is official, but what other reason is there? This jailbreak method doesn't make the SDK code malfunction.

On to the jailbreak tutorial now.


1. This jailbreak involves downloading the firmware off of Apple's website. Be sure you have the cable connected to your iPod Touch or iPhone. If you have an iPhone be sure to turn the auto-lock option off!


2.Login to putty and enter in the below text.
# scp -r ./* root@iphone:/

2. Run the install.sh script by typing the below text:
# sh install.sh

3. Now the device will perform an upgrade and reboot into 1.1.3

If something DOES go wrong, downgrade back to 1.1.2 and try again.

If you get something like illegal hardware instruction, just try rebooting
and it should be updated to 1.1.3.

If you don't get service, try a forced-power-down then power back on.

You can now make the $20 Apps work with your iPod Touch for free. All you have to do is follow the simple steps below.

1. Install SSH viewing my guide here.
2. SSH into your iPod Touch.
3. Navigate to /System/Library/CoreServices
4. Double-click Springboard.app
5. Rename the file N45AP.plist to blank.plist
6. Rename M68AP.plist to N45AP.plist
7. Reboot your iPod Touch!

Now you can play with the wiggly icons and enjoy your iPod Touch 1.1.3 jailbreaked edition!

After jailbreaking your iPod Touch 1.1.3, you'll need to add SSH. Adding SSH requires you to install the BSD Subsystem too. To add SSH follow the below steps.

1. Launch the Installer App
2. Go to Install >> System >> and select BSD Subsystem
3. Click "Install" to install the BSD Subsystem
4. After BSD Subsystem is installed, go to Install >> System >> and select OpenSSH
5. Click "Install" to install OpenSSH
6. Now you can login to your iPod Touch through SSH! You can download an SSH client called WinSCP at http://www.winscp.com/. The default login is username: root password: alpine.

Launch Run_This. Read all the instructions, press Enter when you need to, and the image will be uploaded to your phone.

If you're using iPod Touch make sure you use the iPhone firmware 1.1.3 file since the iPod Touch 1.1.3 hasn't been decrypted yet! Otherwise this will not work.

One of the jailbreak methods for iPhone firmware 1.1.3 has been released! Read on below to learn how you can jailbreak firmware 1.1.3 for the iPhone.

1. If you currently have firmware 1.1.3 installed, you must downgrade to firmware 1.1.1. To do so, connect your iPhone to your computer and wait for iTunes to launch. Once you see your iPhone in the iTunes window, press and hold down both the power and home button on your iPhone. When the iPhone shuts down, release the power button. After you've done that wait for the iPhone to appear back in the iTunes window, and release the home button. Your iPhone should now be in "recovery mode". Press "Shift" on your keyboard, and click the "Restore" button in iTunes. Select the iPod 1.1.1 firmware .ipsw file to restore your iPhone to that version. Your firmware should start downgrading now. Once that's done, you can continue with the below tutorial.

2. Okay, on to the jailbreak! So, if you followed the first step in this tutorial, that means you have a 1.1.1 firmware iPod Touch/iPhone. You must jailbreak this version. To do so, go to Jailbreakme.com and click App Snapp to jailbreak your firmware 1.1.1 iPod Touch/iPhone. After that you need to go to Installer >> Tweaks 1.1.1 >>> and install the OktoPrep. Launch iTunes, download the 1.1.2 file and click upgrade. After upgrading your iPod Touch to 1.1.2, jailbreak it, view the tutorial here to jailbreak 1.1.2 firmware. Note:

3. Now that you're running a jailbreaked 1.1.2 firmware of the iPhone/iPod Touch, you can continue on with this tutorial. Okay, to start out with, download the files needed for the jailbreak at http://devices.natetrue.com/iphone/ibrickr-jb113.zip

4. Next, launch the program ibrickr.exe.

5. Follow the steps on iBrickr. (For iPod Touch users, you'll need to download the iPhone firmware 1.1.3 for right now and use that for the iBrickr. The 1.1.3 firmware has not been decrypted.)

6. Go to Installer and install the 1.1.3 soft upgrade

7. Your iPod Touch/iPhone should restart with firmware 1.1.3!

The iPod Touch and iPhone 1.1.3 is ready for installable applications.

- SpringBoard doesn't need to be changed through Summerboard to show the extra applications in the /Applications folder.
- All applications run as 'mobile' instead of as 'root'.
- Preferences are now stored in '/var/mobile' instead of /var/root.

There is currently no other application available for purchase other than the iPod Touch's $20 software package, but the installation architecture seems to be ready. Apple could release more software for sale, or for free if they want.

To make it easier for developers to make programs with he SDK, the frameworks have gone through many changes. These changes will make some applications not work with the iPod Touch, but developers can update their applications as needed, when the SDK comes out near the end of February.

Were you one of the millions of people out there who upgraded to iPod Touch firmware version 1.1.3? Well, you're in luck. You can still downgrade back to 1.1.1 and jailbreak your iPod Touch or your iPhone again. Follow the simple tutorial below to downgrade your iPod Touch firmware 1.1.3 to firmware 1.1.1. It takes only 5 simple steps!

1. Connect your iPod Touch to iTunes. And wait for the iTunes Application to launch.
2. Once you see your iPod in the iTunes window, press and hold down the power and home button on your iPod Touch.
3. When you see that the iPod Touch icon disappears in the iTunes window, release only the power button.
4. When you see the iPod Touch reconnect and appear in the iTunes window release the home button.
5. Now you can press SHIFT + click RESTORE to restore your iPod Touch to firmware 1.1.1. You can also jailbreak it once it's restored!

The iPod Touch 1.1.3 firmware has been jailbreaked or jailbroken or hacked, whichever term you prefer! Unfortunately the jailbreak will NOT come out until February, when the official SDK comes out.

Here are details on the jailbreak:
- It does require opening up your iPod Touch and playing with the hardware
- The hacking teams claim that they discovered the code "LittleBear" when they decrypted the firmware
- An Official SDK will be released sometime in February
- A lot of applications still won't be able to work in the jailbreak
- Springboard.app may not work, and Customize.app may not work either

Unfortunately this Jailbreak does have a lot of downsides. Fortunately the SDK for the iPod Touch or iPhone is coming out next month, so we can look forward to that. With the new SDK, the hacking community will be able to solve a lot of problems like adding flash to the iPod Touch, adding line rider to iPod Touch, and more.

The folks over at TouchMods have developed an application that allows you to make phone calls through your iPod Touch WiFi connection. The tutorial below explains how you can get VoIP on your iPod Touch.

1. You will need to install the TouchMods repository to your iPod Touch, so launch the Installer App. (Note: If you don't have installer, you can alternately download the App from http://touchmods.net/releases/SIP-VoIP.app.zip)

2. Tap the Sources button on the bottom right corner and then tap the Edit button on the top right corner.

3. Enter in touchmods.net/rep.xml as the source, and tap "OK".



4. Tap the Install button and scroll down the Categories until you find the "Touchmods" directory. Tap the Touchmods directory.



5. You should know see an Application named Touchmods SIP-VoIP, tap that and click the Install button on the upper right corner.

6. Tap the Install button.

7. Restart your iPod Touch.



8. You should now see an application called SIP-VoIP, launch the application by tapping the icon for it.

9. So you have SIP-VoIP application on your iPod Touch, now what? Well, you need to sign up for a SIP provider. Without it you can't use this application. Some SIP providers include: freecall.com, blueface.ie, sipgate.com, inphonex.com, voipcheap.com, sipphone.com, voipbuster.com,freephonie.net,wengo.fr,fonosip.com, voip.bruiula.net,voipstunt.com, and freeworlddialup.com .



10. After signing up for a SIP Provider, tap the "Account" button in the SIP-VoIP app. Enter in your Username, Password, and Registrar. To enter in your Registrar information, you'll need to look at http://svsip.free.fr/spip.php?article2 and see which registrar your SIP Provider has. For example, if you're using "freecall" you would use "sip.voiparound.com" as the registrar. Then tap "Save".



11. You can now tap the "Phone button", enter in the phone # you want to call, and tap the Dial button to call!

Note: The SIP VoIP application only works with iPod Touch firmware 1.1.1, and 1.1.2.
You will need a Microphone to talk, you can currently pre-order one from TouchMods at http://touchmods.net/touchmods/preorder/.


If you want, you can also change the look/theme of your SIP VoIP app. To do this, you can SSH into your iPod Touch, go to /Applications/SIP-VoIP.app and replace icon.png, Default.png, call.png and account.png, with the new skin files. You can download skins at the repository located at http://touchmods.net/skins/.
